what's in your bag | neka rae??
I used to get embarrassed with the “lack” of equipment I have acquired in my bag. But I'm simplistic. I feel the less I have the more I need to learn about the equipment I have already.
If you were to go into my bag you would find:
- Nikon D700
- Nikon 50mm 1.8 (I plan to upgrade one day, but for now I use this one to freelens)
- Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 (on my camera always)
- an external flash
Soon to join my lens tribe is the Sigma Art 85mm 1.4
- Zenit 85mm
- Zenit 135mm
- Zenit 13mm
- Vivitar Flash
- Light Meter
Random Finds & Accessories:
- Journal w/pencil
- Hair Ties
- Extra Memory Cards
- Extra Batteries
- And a Kind Bar
Words of encouragement: I photographed with my Nikon D90 w/ my 50mm 1.8 for over 5-years of my business. In October 2016 I officially upgraded to a Nikon D700 and then purchased my Sigma Art 35mm. I learned the ins-and-outs of my camera and lens. When I upgraded to my D700 I felt the world was my oyster. After lots of research, I plan to purchase a D850, as I plan to dive into video again. My 85mm is on it’s way and once I upgrade my 50mm, I don't plan on making any big purchases after that, as I feel these three lenses complete my arsenal.
Your gear is only a sliver of what you can do with your photography. Start slow and small. Conduct research, complete workshops, look for mentor, and shoot everyday. You are your own instrument. It is what you make of it that will determine what kind of art you will create. Your gear does not define you as an artist. YOU do!
